Manchester United Strengthens Coaching Team with Two-Year Contracts
Manchester United has officially appointed permanent members of staff for head coach Michael Carrick’s coaching team. In an official statement on the Manchester United website on Saturday, the club announced, ‘Manchester United are pleased to confirm that Michael Carrick’s coaching team have also committed to the club for a further two years.’
This decision marks a significant boost for The Red Devils, as the coaching staff that secured UEFA Champions League qualification in the 2025/26 season will remain intact while they aim for the same targets next season. They will face the challenge of European football and strive to advance deep into the competition.
When Carrick returned to Old Trafford in January, the club appointed assistants Steve Holland, Jonathan Woodgate, Jonny Evans, Travis Binnion, and Craig Mawson to support him. All five have now received two-year contracts, matching the agreement made with Michael Carrick, who was officially confirmed as Manchester United head coach until 2028 on Friday, May 22.
Carrick’s senior assistant, Steve Holland, recently served as Gareth Southgate’s assistant manager for the England national team, which reached two European Championship finals and a World Cup semi-final. His experience alongside Carrick is expected to be crucial for United’s future success.
The coaching staff comprises experienced professionals aligned with common objectives, gaining support from the Manchester United players. Some players publicly expressed their desire for Carrick to continue as manager even before the official announcement.
The Red Devils are eager to maintain their momentum as they prepare for the upcoming season, which will involve several necessary player incomings and outgoings. With a £150 million budget specifically allocated for the midfield this summer, Carrick and his team are poised to receive the necessary backing to push forward.
