Manchester United May Join Baller League, Says CEO
Manchester United could eventually put a team in the Baller League following recent comments from the competition’s CEO.
The six-a-side indoor football competition has rapidly gained popularity since its launch in the UK.
Several former Manchester United figures have already become involved in the Baller League.
Former midfielder Eric Djemba-Djemba was recently announced as part of the Legends team for the Baller League Final Four event at the O2 Arena.
Former United defender Cameron Borthwick-Jackson has also participated in the competition.
Angry Gine’s side Yanited signed former academy goalkeeper Hubert Graczyk earlier this season.
Now, discussions have surfaced regarding the possibility of actual Premier League clubs joining the competition.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Baller League CEO Felix Starck expressed his belief that Premier League clubs may soon participate.
Starck noted that the competition attracts younger audiences in ways that traditional football sometimes struggles with.
He mentioned that clubs like Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City could leverage this format to develop younger players and engage future fans.
The CEO also indicated that academy talents might gain valuable experience by playing six-a-side football before transitioning into senior play.
Baller League has quickly become known for blending former footballers, influencers, and unique rules in a fast-paced indoor format.
This season is reported to be the most viewed edition of Baller League yet.
Starck further emphasized that six-a-side football should not be directly compared to the traditional 11-a-side format.
He suggested that elite Premier League defenders might find the quicker and more technical Baller League challenging.
At present, Manchester United does not have an official team in the league.
However, the club already shares several connections to the competition through former players and academy figures.
Following Starck’s latest remarks, these connections could potentially deepen in the near future.
