Sunderland Eyes Move for On-Loan Liverpool Star Harvey Elliott

In a recent interview, former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness noted that Sunderland is interested in acquiring on-loan Liverpool playmaker Harvey Elliott. Wyness remarked,

“I don’t think Villa will get the benefit of the doubt.

“That bridge is burnt now and Elliott can shine. Some of the promoted clubs, possibly even Sunderland, is something I’ve been hearing as to where he might be going.

“We’ll see where that all ends up, but it’s been a very sad episode and one that should have been corrected in some way.

“There must have been a way for authorities to have given exceptions in cases like this and there’s got to be a change in the regulations if there isn’t.”

Elliott’s Lackluster Loan Spell At Aston Villa

Elliott has faced a tough loan period at Aston Villa, struggling for regular playing time under Unai Emery this season. The young English talent has appeared in nine matches for Villa, netting one goal across various competitions.

The 23-year-old is contracted to his parent club, Liverpool, until the end of next season, which may allow Sunderland to secure him at a reduced price later this year.
