Celtic Players Set for Summer FIFA World Cup in North America
With the 25/26 season now over for Celtic, having celebrated a double victory, attention will shift to this summer’s FIFA World Cup in North America.
While Celtic supporters primarily focus on Scotland, they will also keep an eye on the players representing their nations at the tournament. Daizen Maeda is set to play for Japan, and Benjamin Nygren will don the colors of Sweden.
Additionally, right-back Alistair Johnston will represent Canada, as he is officially included in Jesse Marsch’s final 26-man squad for the tournament.
After spending much of the season sidelined due to injury, Johnston’s recovery towards the end of the season allowed him to play a significant role and become fit for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity – participating in a home World Cup.
For those interested in tracking Canada’s progress and Johnston’s performance, their schedule is as follows (all kick-off times BST): Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 12 at 20:00, Qatar on June 18 at 23:00, and Switzerland on June 24 at 20:00.
Celtic fans undoubtedly wish Johnston well, hoping he returns without any injury concerns.
