Somali referee Omar Artan will receive his full salary for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite being unable to officiate at the tournament due to visa issues. The 34-year-old faced a denial of entry into the United States following an extensive 11-hour questioning by immigration officials at Miami International Airport.

This immigration setback ultimately barred Artan from participating in the World Cup, where he was expected to serve as a match official. In light of these circumstances, FIFA has expressed strong support for Artan.

Reports indicate that FIFA will ensure he receives his entire tournament payment, even though he was unable to step onto the pitch during the competition.
