Algeria’s national football team is facing uncertainty regarding defender Ramy Bensebaïni’s status ahead of their first World Cup match. Although he has resumed training with the squad, his fitness for the tournament remains in question.

Bensebaïni, who sustained an ankle injury last April, was included in coach Vladimir Petković’s squad for the World Cup taking place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. However, reports suggest that he is unlikely to start in Algeria’s opening match against Argentina on June 17.

Despite returning to team training sessions, where he reportedly participated without pain, Bensebaïni is ruled out for the game against Argentina. Consequently, Petković is expected to rely on other team members to fill the defensive roles.
