Emam Ashour was named Man of the Match following a standout performance in Egypt’s 1-1 draw against Belgium at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Egyptian midfielder showcased his skills by scoring a stunning goal in the 19th minute, giving the Pharaohs an early lead in a challenging matchup against one of Europe’s top teams.
Egypt seemed poised for a memorable victory; however, Belgium equalized after the introduction of Romelu Lukaku. The striker’s entry applied pressure on Egyptian defender Mohamed Hany, resulting in an unfortunate own goal that brought the match level.
Despite the disappointment of not securing all three points, Egypt displayed resilience, ultimately earning a valuable draw, and Ashour’s outstanding contribution earned him the Man of the Match accolade.
