The Ivory Coast men’s national football team has successfully launched its campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with a 1-0 victory over Ecuador on 15 June. Amad Diallo scored the lone goal, securing a winning start for the Elephants.

Following the match, Diallo emphasized the determination of the Ivorian squad, indicating their ambition to create a significant impact in the tournament. He stated, “We’ve come here to make history. It’s the first competition for every one of us. Since the match against France, we knew we were mentally prepared. We’re very happy with this victory! But there are still two matches to go and it doesn’t stop here.”

The Elephants will face Germany in their next match on 20 June, followed by a clash against Curaçao on 25 June, which will mark the conclusion of the group stage.
