Antoine Semenyo has addressed the considerable expectations that Ghanaian fans place on him during matches. The forward for Manchester City F.C. shared his insights on the “In The Mixer” podcast, highlighting the intense scrutiny players endure.
Semenyo stated, “In Ghana, the expectation is that every ball I touch has to be in the back of the net. If it’s not, you’re crap. That’s how they are.” He emphasized the country’s deep passion for football, noting that a lack of success often leads to widespread disappointment among fans. “When we don’t do well, it’s a meltdown. There’s a lot of pressure,” he added.
In addition to discussing fan expectations, Semenyo addressed the impact of Mohammed Kudus’s absence on the team. Kudus is expected to miss upcoming matches due to a setback in his recovery from injury, having been sidelined since December.
“It’s frustrating, because he’s a pivotal factor for the team for sure,” Semenyo said.
