Antonio Valencia Joins Telemundo Deportes as World Cup Pundit

Antonio Valencia is preparing to step into a new role ahead of this summer’s tournament.

The 40-year-old continues his transition from the pitch to a different stage within football.

Valencia has remained close to the game since retiring in 2021.

Earlier this year, he briefly returned to action in a legends fixture for Manchester United against Southampton.

Antonio Valencia reminded fans of his lasting connection to the club.

Away from the pitch, the Ecuadorian star has also made headlines.

He recently spoke publicly on the arrest of former teammate Christian Lara, showing he continues to hold a strong presence within the football world.

Now, that presence is set to take on a new dimension.

Valencia has officially been appointed as a pundit for the 2026 World Cup.

The ex-United full-back will be joining Telemundo Deportes as part of their expert analysis team for the competition.

The two-time Manchester United Players’ Player of the Year winner brings significant experience to the role.

He earned 99 caps for Ecuador and featured at multiple international tournaments, while also enjoying a decade-long spell in England’s top flight.

During his time at United, he made 339 appearances, scoring 25 goals and winning several major honours.

He most notably won two Premier League titles at the club and the UEFA Europe League.

Known for his versatility, Valencia successfully adapted from a right winger into a dependable right-back later in his career.

His leadership qualities also saw him captain both club and country, further strengthening his credentials for a high-profile media role.

He is not alone in making this move.

Ex-Manchester United forward Javier Hernandez had also secured a similar position with Fox Sports.

The Mexican will be alongside a fellow former Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.

Valencia’s appointment highlights a growing trend of former players moving into broadcasting.
