Manchester United Faces Competition from Arsenal in Transfer Targets

Manchester United’s summer business is heating up but now could be at threat due to the influence of Arsenal, who are aiming in their own right to make good signings in the upcoming transfer window.

The Red Devils, who look to be secure in their Champions League qualification spot currently, may target a number of spots in the window to help improve their squad.

One of these spots is midfield, with the departure of Casemiro sparking a midfield overhaul.

Elliot Anderson has been linked with a move to Old Trafford, but Nottingham Forest’s demands of an exceptionally high transfer fee may make a deal unfeasible.

The same can be said for Sandro Tonali, with Newcastle United wanting a nine-figure fee for the Italian international.

Defensive reinforcements may also be important to help provide more depth.

Maxi Araujo is one name that Manchester United could choose to pursue. Four goals and three assists in the league make him an attractive prospect.

Arsenal, however, are also interested, with Record reporting that the Gooners have made initial contact with the player’s representatives.

For Manchester United, Arsenal’s interest sparks a blow to their prospects of signing Maxi Araujo.

However, given that only initial contact has been made, there may still be a chance for the Red Devils to successfully complete the signing if the club moves quickly and gets ahead of Arsenal.

Focus will now switch towards Old Trafford to see if the club decides to react to the Gooners’ move and make a move of their own in the coming weeks.

If they do, Manchester United may find themselves in the position to sign the left-back. If they do not, Arsenal may seize the opportunity and sign the 26-year-old permanently themselves.
