A red card galore at the Gewiss Stadium
While Ederson got 2 yellow cards in successive moments as he sarcastically mocked the referee after receiving the yellow card, the referee did not see the funny side of it and handed another yellow card for dissent.
Bastoni also got another yellow card in the dying minutes of the game for a wild tackle on Daniel Maldini. Gasperini received the red card at the 88th minute for dissent after Lautaro Martinez killed the tie with the second goal.

Carlos Augusto scored a commanding header from a corner in the 54th minute and took the lead. It was a highly contested match as both the teams are in the title race as Inter are now 1st with 64 points and Atalanta are 3rd with 58 points.
The incident infuriated Gasperini
“The red card ruined the end of the game, which is a shame for not just my team, but for the opponents and any people watching,” Gasperini told DAZN.

“There really was no need to go there, it was unnecessary and the game was still open with basically 20 minutes left that could’ve been just as fascinating.
“The referee was over the top with Ederson, because there were other yellow card incidents earlier such as Bellanova, while Ederson is a player who was wrong to applaud sarcastically, but the referee really ruined this match.
“There are far worse incidents or words than an applause, some referees ignore it and pretend not to see it. The game was ruined after that in a wonderful atmosphere, it was a pity to see a match between first and third ruined over that. It penalised everyone, both teams and all fans of football.”
