Atlético Madrid is reportedly nearing a transfer agreement for Alejandro Grimaldo, the defender from Bayer Leverkusen and the Spanish national team. The club has already reached an agreement on personal terms with the 30-year-old player and is currently in talks with Bayer regarding the transfer.
The expected transfer fee for Grimaldo is set to exceed €10 million. His current contract with Bayer Leverkusen extends until the summer of 2027. Grimaldo is versatile, able to play as both a left-back and a left midfielder, and he had a strong performance in the 2025/26 season, making 46 appearances, scoring 14 goals, and providing 12 assists.
Previously, Atlético had shown interest in Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella; however, he opted for an offer from Real Madrid. In the last season, Atlético finished fourth in La Liga, while Bayer Leverkusen secured sixth place in the Bundesliga and earned a spot in the Europa League.
