Benfica is moving quickly to find a successor for José Mourinho, who is anticipated to join Real Madrid.

Details: According to Pedro Almeida on his X social media page, Benfica’s management has identified a candidate to replace Mourinho. Reports suggest that the club is currently in negotiations with 41-year-old Rúben Amorim, the former head coach of Manchester United and Sporting.

Rúben Amorim is the preferred choice of Benfica’s president, Rui Costa. With Mourinho’s transition to Real Madrid expected to occur soon, the club aims to finalize discussions with Amorim before the start of the upcoming World Cup.

Currently, Rúben Amorim is a free agent following his dismissal from Manchester United in January 2026.
