Benjamin Sesko’s Season Ends Early as Manchester United Secures Win

Benjamin Sesko watched from the directors’ box at Old Trafford on Sunday as Manchester United triumphed over Nottingham Forest in a five-goal thriller during their final home game of the 2025/26 season.

Since joining the club in August 2025, Sesko has made a notable impact, netting 11 goals in 30 Premier League appearances. His performance has notably improved since Michael Carrick took over as head coach in January.

However, Sesko has not played since being substituted at half-time during Liverpool/”>Manchester United’s 3-2 victory against Liverpool on May 3, where he scored a goal. The Slovenian revealed he was contending with a shin injury, and his prospects for returning this season look dim.

According to Manchester United reporter Steven Railston on X, Sesko is still on the mend from the injury he originally sustained, which could mean his season is over.

While an early season-ending injury would typically raise concerns, United’s campaign will conclude on May 24 with a match against Brighton & Hove Albion. Sesko should have sufficient time to recuperate before the next season, and he won’t need to worry about participating in the 2026 World Cup, as Slovenia did not qualify.

This season at United has been largely positive for Benjamin Sesko. When given the opportunity to lead United’s attack, he has proven to be very effective. A full season as the club’s primary striker under Michael Carrick, who is set to be confirmed as the permanent manager, could position the 22-year-old among the top scorers in the Premier League.

While the club has historically struggled with marquee forward signings, Sesko seems to strike the right balance between reliability and future potential at Old Trafford.

His absence will be felt in the final match of the season, but the outlook remains very promising for Benjamin Sesko at Manchester United.
