Iran’s preparations for the upcoming 2026 World Cup have been disrupted by a grave incident near their training base in Tijuana, Mexico. A body exhibiting signs of violent death was found in the vicinity of the Iranian delegation’s accommodations.

According to TyCSports, security personnel detected a strong, unpleasant odor during a routine check and subsequently discovered the decomposed remains inside a pickup truck with American license plates, parked close to the training facility.

The initial investigation revealed clear evidence indicating a violent death, prompting local police to initiate an inquiry. Following the discovery, authorities cordoned off the area, and players and coaching staff of the Iranian national team were temporarily relocated from the training camp.

This unsettling event comes during a period of heightened tension for the Iranian team, which has chosen Mexico as its base due to political strains between Iran and the United States. In the group stage of the tournament, Iran will face New Zealand, Belgium, and Egypt, with their opening match scheduled for June 15.
