Tottenham Receives Encouraging News Before Aston Villa Clash

Tottenham Hotspur has received a surprising boost ahead of their upcoming trip to Aston Villa. Despite having secured a vital victory against Wolves in their last outing, the mood around the team has been overshadowed by a persistent injury crisis, leaving their first-team squad severely depleted as the season enters its final stretch.

Head coach Roberto De Zerbi recently lost Xavi Simons and Dominic Solanke to injuries, with Simons set to miss the remainder of the season due to a torn ACL. Simons joins Mohammed Kudus and Cristian Romero as long-term absentees, which means Spurs will head into the match against Aston Villa on Sunday with a weakened lineup.

In light of this situation, De Zerbi has urged his players to maintain a positive attitude and give their all, emphasizing that they cannot afford to wallow in self-pity as the threat of relegation looms large over the club.

Aston Villa Faces Injury Concerns Ahead of Sunday’s Match

As Roberto De Zerbi and his coaching staff look to tackle their fight for survival one match at a time, the North London side hopes to build on last weekend’s win against Wolves when they take on Aston Villa at Villa Park.

With the season nearing its conclusion, Spurs are eager to close the two-point gap between themselves and West Ham, making every bit of advantage crucial in this tense relegation battle. Fortunately for De Zerbi’s squad, there appears to be an opening ahead of the match against Aston Villa.

Villa manager Unai Emery has confirmed that Amadou Onana will not be available for the clash with Tottenham due to a calf injury. While the club continues to assess the seriousness of the issue, it has been confirmed that the towering 6 ft 5in central midfielder will definitely miss Sunday’s game.

Onana, who had missed the league defeat to Fulham only to return for the Europa League match against Nottingham Forest midweek, managed just 55 minutes before he was forced off the field due to the calf issue.

“He has a scan, and we will see the consequences after, and see how he’s feeling, but for Sunday, he’s definitely not available,” Emery stated.

Onana has proven to be an instrumental player for Emery’s Villa. The influential Belgian international has a knack for impacting games on both ends of the pitch, contributing two goals in 24 Premier League appearances this season.

His physical presence and scoring ability could have posed a significant threat to Tottenham. With his absence confirmed, it will be interesting to see how Villa compensates for Onana in midfield, providing a notable advantage for the North Londoners as they head into Sunday’s match.
