Tragic news has emerged from Germany regarding former Nuremberg player Markus Mendler. His wife, Tamara Mendler, aged 32, passed away just days after giving birth.

According to reports from The Sun, Tamara, who was also a professional footballer with Saarbrücken, had recently welcomed a healthy baby. There were no indications of concern prior to her untimely passing, which has been attributed to a severe yet brief illness.

Currently, Markus Mendler is with the Regionalliga (4th Bundesliga) club Homburg, which expressed its grief in a statement:

“With deep shock and sadness, we have learned about the death of our player Markus Mendler’s wife. Tamara Mendler passed away far too soon on Saturday evening after a short but serious illness,” the club stated.

Markus Mendler, who came through the youth ranks at Nuremberg, played for the first team from 2011 to 2014, making 19 appearances without scoring any goals or providing assists.
