Celtic Secures Important 3-1 Victory Over Rangers in Old Firm Clash
On Sunday, Celtic achieved a significant win in the Old Firm rivalry, defeating Rangers 3-1 at Celtic Park.
This victory marks Celtic’s first win in 90 minutes across the last ten meetings with Rangers, creating an opportune moment for the team. The Hoops now trail league leaders Hearts by just one point with two games left in the season.
The standout performers for Martin O’Neill’s side included Daizen Maeda. The Japanese international faced a rocky start, missing a one-on-one opportunity wide of the target just 17 minutes into the match.
However, Maeda quickly redeemed himself. Eight minutes into the second half, he capitalized on a cutback from Kieran Tierney to effectively finish past Rangers’ goalkeeper Jack Butland.
Just four minutes later, Maeda showcased his skill with an incredible overhead kick that dipped and found the bottom corner. The Celtic fans reacted with a collective gasp before erupting in cheers as the ball hit the net.
Acknowledgment is also due for Yang Hyun-Jun, who scored a crucial equalizer to calm the nerves and shift the momentum of the game. He also played a key role in setting up Maeda’s earlier chance, influencing Celtic’s performance in the attacking third.
Lastly, Liam Scales made a strong impression by effectively managing his matchup against Youssef Chermiti, who had a promising start to the match. His passing was vital in Celtic’s build-up play, contributing to a confident display.
