San Diego Comes Back from Two-Goal Deficit, Overcomes Denver 3-2
Up 2-0 going into the first half thanks to Melissa Kössler and Natasha Flint, it seemed as though the Summit would manage to take down the league’s top-ranked team.
But the Wave struck back in a span of 16 minutes in the second half. Lia Godfrey opened San Diego’s scoring in the 49th minute off a give-and-go from Kimmi Ascanio. It was Godfrey’s fourth goal of the season and set a club record for most goals scored by a rookie.
