Pitso Dladla, coach of Durban City, has reaffirmed the team’s commitment to achieving a respectable finish in the Betway Premiership this season. Despite a challenging setback, characterized by a heavy 5-2 defeat against Magesi FC on Sunday evening, Dladla remains optimistic about the team’s prospects for a top-eight position.
The loss not only raised concerns regarding Durban City’s ability to secure a decent end to their campaign but also allowed Magesi FC to escape from the bottom of the league table. This surprising outcome has sparked significant discussions throughout the Premier Soccer League (PSL).
Nonetheless, Dladla believes that a top-eight finish is still within reach. He explained, “As I have said, the target is to finish in a strong top eight position, but there are many dynamics in the top eight,” emphasizing the importance of playoff positioning for the upcoming season.
He added, “Let me put it like this, you are in the top four next season; when you play top eight, you play at home. Any team would want that. You also know the structure of the draw,” underscoring the strategic implications of their end-of-season positioning.
