Premier League Season Concludes: Arsenal Triumphs, West Ham Faces Relegation

The 2025/26 Premier League season has officially come to a close. Arsenal has claimed the championship title, Tottenham Hotspur narrowly escaped relegation, while West Ham United has been relegated to the Championship.

As we reflect on the season’s final matchday, we consider who has made it into our last Premier League team of the week. Big wins from Manchester United, Arsenal, and Aston Villa provided plenty of standout performances. Here are our selections for the week.

GK: Mads Hermansen

Though West Ham’s relegation may make placing Mads Hermansen in this lineup seem unusual, he certainly earned his spot. West Ham controlled much of the match against Leeds United, and Hermansen proved his worth by stopping several shots on target from the Whites.

RB: Pedro Porro

For Tottenham, every match counted in their quest for survival. By defeating Everton, they secured their Premier League status for another year, thanks in part to Pedro Porro’s significant contributions. He demonstrated growth in his defensive skills, effectively neutralizing threats coming from the left flank throughout the match.

CB: Issa Diop

Issa Diop had a quieter season with Fulham, making only 13 appearances, but he rose to the occasion against Newcastle United on the final day. He scored the first goal for Fulham and maintained a clean sheet in the process, which stood out during a weekend where only four teams achieved that feat.

CB: Luke O’Nien

Similarly, Luke O’Nien had limited playtime this season, as evidenced by us using an image from 2021 for his feature. However, he played a pivotal role by winning an offensive header that led to an assist, helping Sunderland take the lead in their match. His long-term contributions to the club are noteworthy.

LB: Adrien Truffert

This year has been remarkable for Bournemouth, once languishing in League Two, now set to play European football next season. Adrien Truffert showcased his skills against Nottingham Forest. Although Bournemouth did not secure a win, Truffert assisted Marcus Tavernier in earning a point in his last game as manager.

CM: Joao Palhinha

Joao Palhinha made himself a memorable figure for Tottenham Hotspur with a decisive goal in their 1-0 victory over Everton on Sunday. Despite a difficult season for the club, Palhinha remains one of the few players who can conclude the campaign with pride.

CM: Mateus Fernandes

Mateus Fernandes is expected to attract considerable attention in the summer transfer window, as his performance against Leeds was outstanding. With five successful tackles and an assist, he demonstrated his talent, making it hard to believe he will remain at West Ham in the upcoming season.

RW: Jarrod Bowen

Much like Fernandes, Jarrod Bowen is too skilled to remain in the Championship next season. His performance, including a goal and an assist, sends a clear message to Thomas Tuchel after not being chosen for the England World Cup squad, leaving West Ham fans concerned about his future.

AM: Bruno Fernandes

Bruno Fernandes has set a new Premier League assists record during Manchester United’s dominant 3-0 win over Brighton. His involvement was not limited to setting records; he also scored the first goal against the Seagulls, helping secure a third-place finish for the Red Devils.

LW: Patrick Dorgu

Patrick Dorgu’s journey from a left-back to a top-class winger this season has been compelling. His talents were evident in the match against Brighton where he also scored and assisted, marking a strong conclusion to the campaign.

ST: Ollie Watkins

Ollie Watkins has found his form just in time as Aston Villa claimed the Europa League title and a top-four finish. He scored twice against Manchester City, securing a surprise victory at the Etihad Stadium on the season’s final day.
