Ben Youssef Khalil is reportedly on the verge of taking over the coaching position at Durban City. The Betway Premiership side has been without a head coach since January, when they parted ways with Sinethemba Badela.
Currently, assistant coach Pitso Dladla has been managing the team and successfully led them to victory in the Nedbank Cup. However, the club’s management is now focused on bringing Khalil to Kwa-Zulu Natal to assume the coaching role.
Recent updates indicate that Khalil, along with Eric Tinkler, is leading the race for the position. Khalil is considered the frontrunner following a commendable season at Kaizer Chiefs, where he and co-coach Cedric Kaze guided the team to a third-place finish in the PSL standings.
In contrast, Tinkler experienced a less successful season and was dismissed by Sekhukhune United after failing to achieve a top-three finish. Durban City is anticipated to announce Khalil’s appointment on June 22.
