Guglielmo Vicario Set to Depart Tottenham for Inter Milan
Tottenham Hotspur finds itself entrenched in a relegation battle. Despite securing their first victory under new manager Roberto De Zerbi, they remain two points away from safety in the Premier League relegation zone following West Ham’s late win against Everton.
Regardless of whether the club faces relegation or maintains its Premier League status, significant changes to the squad are anticipated during the summer transfer window, casting uncertainty over the futures of several players. One individual seemingly on his way out is goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.
Inter Milan are considering a move for Vicario as they seek a replacement for Yann Sommer next season. The Serie A club has been preparing for a possible transfer over the past few months. Vicario’s age and experience in Serie A make him an attractive option for Inter Milan.
Guglielmo Vicario Finalizes Deal with Inter Milan
Recent reports indicate that Inter Milan has reached a preliminary agreement on personal terms with Vicario. Club officials are optimistic about signing the 29-year-old for approximately €18 million this summer. A new update now confirms Inter’s ongoing pursuit of Tottenham’s No. 1 goalkeeper.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Vicario has now secured a full agreement to leave Spurs and join Inter Milan at the conclusion of the season. His potential move back to Italy is being influenced by Tottenham’s precarious situation in the Premier League. Inter will now aim to finalize a transfer agreement with Tottenham for the goalkeeper.
If Tottenham is relegated, Inter’s chances of acquiring Vicario at a reduced price will likely increase. Having long admired the Italian international, the Nerazzurri will seek to bring him in at a bargain, especially given their financial constraints and the need to strengthen multiple areas of the squad.
Vicario joined Tottenham in the summer of 2023 and has since made 117 appearances, playing a key role in the club’s Europa League success last season, including a clean sheet in the final against Manchester United. However, his form has dropped this season, leading to criticism from fans regarding his performance.
Currently sidelined due to hernia surgery, it appears that this will be Vicario’s final season at Tottenham. Should he recover in time for the Aston Villa match, De Zerbi is likely to continue with Antonin Kinsky in goal. This would reward Kinsky’s strong performances and indicate that Vicario’s time at N17 is coming to an end.
