Tottenham Aims for Victory as Two Injured Players Prepare for Return Against Aston Villa

Tottenham Hotspur’s match against Aston Villa on Sunday is considered a crucial match for the fans.

Despite their recent victory over Wolves, Spurs remain two points away from safety with only four matches left. West Ham’s stoppage-time win against Everton on the same day kept them in 17th place. Therefore, if Tottenham intends to surpass West Ham or at least maintain their two-point cushion, they need to secure three points at Villa Park.

Roberto De Zerbi’s squad faced setbacks following Tottenham’s win over Wolves, as both Xavi Simons and Dominic Solanke had to leave the game due to injuries. Simons confirmed earlier this week that he has suffered a devastating ACL injury, while reports indicate that Solanke has sustained a grade-2 hamstring injury, as several sources suggest.

Despite these injury challenges, De Zerbi might receive some encouraging news ahead of the trip to Aston Villa.

Two Tottenham Stars Expected to Make Their Comeback Against Villa

Destiny Udogie missed the match against Wolves due to a minor injury, but De Zerbi expressed optimism that the left-back would be ready for the upcoming game. He had also noted before the Wolves fixture that Guglielmo Vicario was expected to return to training this week.

According to a report from The Standard, Guglielmo Vicario may be on track to return for the match against Aston Villa, with Destiny Udogie also likely to see action on Sunday.

Vicario underwent hernia surgery during the March international break and has missed Tottenham’s last three matches. Interestingly, his absence has not been felt, as Antonin Kinsky has stepped up effectively. Kinsky has demonstrated more composure and reliability in goal during these three games, overcoming his earlier Champions League debut struggles against Atletico Madrid.

Udogie had appeared to secure the left-back position in the first two matches under De Zerbi. However, injuries have plagued his season, leading to his absence from the Wolves match due to a minor knock. The good news is that the injury is not serious, increasing the likelihood of the Italian defender’s return against Unai Emery’s team.

If Udogie recovers from his injury, he may reclaim his spot in the starting lineup. In contrast, Vicario might find himself as a backup to Kinsky, who has been performing well as the season progresses.
