Inter Miami will visit the White House on March 5 to celebrate their first MLS Cup championship, as reported by The Athletic and the Miami Herald on Friday.

The Herald indicated that all club members, including Lionel Messi, are expected to meet President Donald Trump.

This visit is scheduled two days before Inter Miami faces D.C. United in Washington.

Many MLS Cup champions, such as the Columbus Crew in September 2024, have been honored at the White House after winning the title.

Last year, the Los Angeles Galaxy, who won the 2024 MLS Cup, did not visit the White House. However, they were honored there after their victories in 2011, 2012, and 2014. David Beckham, then a Galaxy player and now co-owner of Inter Miami, met President Barack Obama after the 2011 championship.

Messi has not visited the White House, even though President Joe Biden awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom in January 2025. He missed the ceremony due to scheduling conflicts.

Trump has collaborated with FIFA president Gianni Infantino ahead of the World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada this summer.

Inter Miami joined MLS as an expansion team in 2020 and had a tough start until Messi joined in 2023. He helped the team win the Leagues Cup in 2023, the MLS Supporters’ Shield in 2024, and the MLS Cup in December by defeating the Vancouver Whitecaps 3-1.
