The captain of Senegal’s national football team, the Lions of Teranga, has voiced concerns regarding the travel challenges faced by African supporters during the World Cup. Many fans from African nations encountered difficulties in securing visas to attend the tournament in the United States, hindering their ability to support their teams in person.
Kalidou Koulibaly, in an interview with The Athletic, expressed his disappointment over the situation, questioning why African supporters are excluded from experiencing the event alongside other national teams. He emphasized that football should serve as a unifying force for fans from all backgrounds.
“Every national team can have its supporters, so why not the Africans? I don’t want to talk about politics or that sort of thing. I just want to talk about football, enjoy football, and I think football is for everyone,” Koulibaly remarked, highlighting the need for inclusivity in the sport.
