Real Madrid were held to a 1-1 draw against Real Mallorca in the opening match of the 2024/25 Spanish LaLiga season at the San Moix Stadium on Monday (19/8),

Rodrygo put Real Madrid ahead with a first-half goal before Real Mallorca equalised through Vedat Muriqi after the break.

Mallorca had put pressure on in the first 10 minutes, but Madrid were able to take the lead after escaping the pressure.
In the 13th minute, Rodrygo was able to score a goal after firing the ball from a pass from Vinicius Jr. The score was 1-0 for Madrid.
After taking the lead, Madrid put a lot of pressure on Mallorca. Several chances from Rodrygo and Mbappe threatened the home team’s goal. However, Mallorca defended solidly.
The home team could threaten Madrid’s goal in the remaining half, but no goals were scored. The score remained 0-1 until the break.
In the second half, Mallorca was only able to equalize in the 53rd minute. Vedat Muriqi scored a goal against Madrid with a header from close range after meeting Dani Rodriguez’s corner kick. The score was 1-1.
In the 62nd minute, Madrid got a chance from Mbappe’s action. He got a pass from Bellingham and fired a shot from the left side, but the ball was saved by the goalkeeper.
Mbappe threatened again eight minutes later with a left-footed shot, but again the ball was saved by the Mallorca keeper.
Madrid then tried to press Mallorca’s defense. The hosts themselves occasionally tried to launch counterattacks.
At the end of the match, Madrid had to play with 10 men after Ferland Mendy committed a foul which resulted in a red card.
