Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has officially made his mark in English football history by being named the Premier League Player of the Season. The Portuguese midfielder’s outstanding performance during the 2025/26 campaign has solidified his place as a key figure in the team.

At 31 years old, Fernandes displayed remarkable skill and leadership on the pitch, contributing significantly to his team’s success. Throughout the season, he played 34 matches, scoring 8 goals and providing an impressive 20 assists, coming close to breaking the league’s all-time single-season assist record.

In a competitive field for this prestigious award, Fernandes surpassed numerous top-tier players, including Gabriel Magalhães, Declan Rice, and David Raya from Arsenal, as well as Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest, and Manchester City‘s Erling Haaland and Antoine Semenyo, along with Igor Thiago from Brentford.

Atalanta midfielder Ederson is set to join Manchester United.
