Manchester United Players Earn International Call-Ups for 2026 World Cup
Manchester United players are gaining international recognition as preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup advance this summer.
Several athletes have already been officially selected by their respective national teams. Portugal has confirmed the inclusion of Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot in their final World Cup squad.
Both players were instrumental in assisting Michael Carrick to lead United back into the Champions League.
Another Manchester United player has now received official call-up. Morocco has confirmed its 2026 FIFA World Cup squad on the Moroccan FA website, including Manchester United defender Noussair Mazraoui.
The versatile full-back is expected to make significant contributions to the national team. The 28-year-old started in United’s last match of the season against Brighton & Hove Albion, where United achieved a third-place finish in the Premier League and secured qualification for next season’s Champions League.
Mazraoui will now join the Moroccan squad as they approach another important international tournament.
Former Manchester United midfielder Sofyan Amrabat has also been named in the squad. The Moroccan international spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Old Trafford before returning to Fiorentina, and later moving to Fenerbahçe, followed by a loan to Real Betis. Morocco impressed during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, reaching the semi-finals, and they enter this competition with high expectations from their supporters.
The inclusion of Mazraoui illustrates a growing trend of Manchester United players receiving international acknowledgment this summer.
Additionally, the Sweden Women’s team recently called up a trio from Manchester United for their upcoming international fixtures, while Belgium has also officially selected goalkeeper Senne Lammens for the World Cup following his impressive breakthrough season.
The Red Devils may see even more players called up in the coming weeks, as many Manchester United stars are anticipated to play key roles for their countries during the tournament.
Noussair Mazraoui is eager to help Morocco pursue another deep World Cup journey after their historic success four years ago.
