Now their official 27-man group has been confirmed ahead of the tournament in Canada, the USA, and Mexico.
Portugal national football team head coach Roberto Martinez has named a 27-player squad for the 2026 World Cup, with several familiar Manchester United-linked names included.
The Portuguese will face the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uzbekistan, and Colombia in the group stage as they look to progress deep into the competition.
Their tournament preparations also include warm-up fixtures against Chile and Nigeria before heading into the World Cup proper.
Among the headline inclusions are several players with strong Manchester United connections.

As announced on their website, Bruno Fernandes is once again at the heart of the squad after another standout season at Old Trafford, where he has continued to be one of United’s most influential figures.
The midfielder has enjoyed a remarkable campaign, equalling the Premier League assist record with 20, sharing the milestone with Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne, while also collecting the FWA Footballer of the Year award.
He has also been nominated for further individual honours, with both Premier League Player of the Season and PFA recognition still on the table after another season of elite-level consistency.
Also included is Diogo Dalot, who remains an important part of the national setup and provides versatility in the defensive line.
Former United icon Cristiano Ronaldo is also part of the squad as he prepares for yet another World Cup appearance, continuing his long international legacy at the highest level.
Ronaldo will be heading to his sixth World Cup.
Portugal’s group matches will be staged across Houston and Miami, with fixtures scheduled at NRG Stadium and Hard Rock Stadium as they aim to progress from Group H and mount another serious challenge for global honours.
With experience, star power, and Premier League influence throughout the squad, Portugal heads into the tournament as one of the teams expected to go deep, and Manchester United’s fingerprints are once again clearly present on the world stage.
