Roy Keane Lauds Bruno Fernandes Ahead of Manchester United‘s Match Against Nottingham Forest

Ahead of two of his former clubs facing off at Old Trafford this afternoon, Roy Keane has poured praise on Bruno Fernandes.

Manchester United lead Nottingham Forest by a goal in the opening 10 minutes, thanks to a scintillating finish by an unlikely goalscorer in the form of Luke Shaw.

Bruno Fernandes Waiting on Record-Breaking Assist

Fernandes will perhaps feel slightly aggrieved that he didn’t assist his teammate, as it would’ve seen him level the official Premier League record, currently held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne, with the bulk of the game left to play and next week’s fixture, giving him time to then set a new record.

Still, with how influential United’s skipper is, fans are still crossing their fingers that he can surpass the milestone before the culmination of the campaign in seven days’ time.

What Keane Had to Say About Fernandes

On Friday, it was confirmed that Fernandes had won the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award for the fifth time – the most of any player in United history.

What’s more, in the six-and-a-half years he’s been at the club, he has only missed out on the award once; Marcus Rashford pipped him to it following a career-best goalscoring season in 2023.

Speaking on Sky Sports in the lead-up to kick-off, Keane said of the Portugal international: “He’s in great form. In recent months, the team has found him in good positions, and what matters most to Bruno is having teammates who run ahead of him.

“If players make the right runs, Bruno will find you. His decision-making and the precision of his passes are the best in the world.

“Those stats don’t surprise us. He’s reached a new level. Forest will have to neutralise him today, because he’s the key man for Man United.”
