After suffering a defeat to Ivory Coast in their opening match, Cameroon faces a critical challenge ahead. With no room for further errors, the team must secure a victory in their upcoming game against Uganda, which is deemed essential for their hopes in the tournament.

Manager Saidou Alioum expressed his determination not to succumb to panic despite the setback. He recognized the strength of the Ivorian team while voicing regret over the lost opportunity in a competition where each point is vital. Alioum emphasized the need for his players to remain concentrated as they prepare for the next match.

“We’ve just played against a very good Ivory Coast side. In a four-team competition, it’s important to avoid losing the first match. For us, the next match will therefore be a must-win to stay in the competition. Given that Ivory Coast and Uganda already have three points, and that we and the DRC have zero points, this match against Uganda is crucial. We had a training session today and I asked the players to stay focused,” he stated during a press briefing.

Cameroon lost 2-0 to Ivory Coast in their inaugural match of Group B in the Africa Cup of Nations, which commenced in Morocco on 13 May.
