INEOS Implements Changes at Manchester United Amid Mixed Reactions
INEOS, under the leadership of Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has executed a range of changes at Manchester United since its involvement with the club.
These alterations have resulted in varied reactions from fans; while some decisions have gained widespread approval, others have faced criticism.
During INEOS’s management tenure, the academy has undergone cuts, and the club has implemented significant staffing reductions aimed at financial improvement.
Recently, the organization also relocated season ticket holders to make way for additional hospitality seating as part of its fundraising efforts. However, Ratcliffe has faced backlash over this move, leading to increased security measures during his visits to Old Trafford on match days.
As INEOS continues to evolve as a company, it has made a recent appointment of Sanka De Silva.
In a statement on their official website, the press release announced: “INEOS Automotive has appointed Sanka De Silva, who takes the wheel to lead its commercial operations in the UK and Irish markets as Regional Director UK&I.
“Starting in May 2026, Sanka will guide the brand in its home market, driving commercial growth and network development.
“De Silva brings 15 years of automotive experience, having begun his career in Nissan UK’s Graduate Scheme.
“Following various roles in product, sales operations, and marketing with the Japanese brand, he served in senior management at Kia UK, including roles as Marketing Director and Sales Director for the last five years.”
De Silva expressed his enthusiasm about joining INEOS, saying: “It’s an exciting prospect to step away from large legacy OEMs and join a business seeking to break down barriers with its highly differentiated, distinctive product and an incredibly dedicated team.
“Growing our footprint here will anchor the efforts being achieved already with our latest model upgrades and a growing fleet order bank. While mud might be new to me, the end goal is not, and I look forward to being part of the journey.”
With INEOS’ latest appointment, the organization is clearly taking steps toward further improvement.
