In a notable gesture of support, Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is reportedly planning to reward FIFA and CAF referee Omar Artan with a five-bedroom house. This decision follows Artan’s unfortunate exclusion from the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Plans to honor Artan are already in motion, merely days after he learned he would not be able to attend the global tournament despite being selected as one of FIFA’s official match officials.
Omar Artan had been included in FIFA’s official list of referees for the 2026 World Cup but was unable to participate due to being denied entry into the United States.
