In a dramatic decision ahead of the upcoming World Cup, Germany’s head coach Julian Nagelsmann has excluded striker Niclas Füllkrug from the final “Die Mannschaft” squad. According to reports from Sky Sport, this unexpected move has raised eyebrows among fans and analysts alike.

Füllkrug, who played a pivotal role as a “super-sub” in the recent home Euros, consistently provided crucial goals for his team after being brought on as a substitute. The 33-year-old forward, currently on loan at Italian club Milan, boasts impressive statistics for the national team, having scored 14 goals in 24 appearances.

German media had previously suggested that Nagelsmann was likely to select at least one traditional target man for the tournament, with Füllkrug and Tim Kleindienst being the primary candidates. Ultimately, however, the decision was made to omit the former Borussia striker, as the coaching staff opted to explore different tactical formations.

Netherlands striker Memphis Depay has suffered yet another injury and is at risk of missing the World Cup.
