The Super Cup 2025 is set to get rolling. It will be the fifth season of the tournament and the 43rd edition of the national knockout football competition in India.

The football tournament features clubs from the Indian Super League and the I-League, the first and second tier of the Indian football league system.

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has confirmed that the football tournament will be held in Bhubaneswar from April 21.

Super Cup 2025: Format

The tournament is a knockout competition with 16 teams taking part from the round of 16. Thirteen Indian Super League clubs and three I-League clubs will participate in the contest.

Super Cup: Past winners

Introduced in 2018 as the successor to the Federation Cup, the Super Cup has witnessed four champions..

Bengaluru FC won the inaugural edition in 2018, beating East Bengal in the final while FC Goa trumped Chennaiyin FC to be crowned the 2019 champions.

After being scrapped from 2020 to 2022 due to COVID, the Super Cup returned in 2023 with Odisha FC emerging as the winners after defeating Bengaluru at the EMS Stadium in Kerala.

East Bengal are the defending champions in the upcoming edition of the tournament, having clinched the 2024 title with a thrilling 3-2 extra-time victory over Odisha FC in the final at Bhubaneswar’s Kalinga Stadium.

Super Cup 2025: Significance

The final of the tournament will be played at Kalinga Stadium on 4 May 2025.

The winners of the Super Cup 2025 will earn a chance to qualify for the 2025-26 AFC Champions League 2 (ACL2) Playoffs.
