The Canadian appeals court has upheld the ban on Thomas Partey, a key player for the Ghana national team, preventing his entry into Canada. This decision comes as a significant blow to Ghana’s chances in upcoming competitions.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the 33-year-old defensive midfielder, currently with Villarreal, is unable to secure a Canadian visa due to ongoing legal proceedings related to a rape case for which he is set to stand trial in the United Kingdom.
Despite efforts from Partey’s representatives to obtain an exemption for the player, the court refused to make any exceptions, even for a participant in the World Cup.
Consequently, Partey will miss Ghana’s opening match against Panama, raising concerns that he may be sidelined for the entire World Cup.
