Rasmus Hojlund Officially Joins Napoli Following Successful Season

Rasmus Hojlund has taken to Instagram to confirm that he is now officially a Napoli player.

The forward was on the scoresheet this afternoon as Napoli cruised to a 3-0 away win against Pisa, confirming they would be playing Champions League football again next season.

As a result, it has automatically activated the buy obligation in Hojlund’s contract, meaning Manchester United will receive £38 million from the deal.

The Dane issued a heartfelt statement to both sets of fans, stating that he fulfilled a childhood dream of playing in the iconic red shirt at Old Trafford but that he is now looking forward to continuing in Naples after an impressive season in sky blue.

Given United also secured UCL qualification a fortnight ago, there is every chance Hojlund could come up against his former club next season, and if a fixture takes place in M16, he’ll get the opportunity to properly say goodbye to the Red Devils faithful.

Hojlund departs United having accumulated 95 appearances in all competitions, scoring 26 goals and assisting a further six.

His final Premier League term saw him rack up only four goals in 32 games, which is what prompted INEOS to sign a replacement last summer in the form of Benjamin Sesko.

Still, the 23-year-old has been able to enjoy improved form in Italy; he has found the back of the net 15 times in 43 matches while contributing eight assists.

Napoli were unable to retain their Scudetto this time around, but they did lift silverware when winning the Italian Super Cup back in December.

At United, Hojlund won the FA Cup in 2023/2024.
