Tottenham Hotspur Faces Crucial Matches to Ensure Premier League Survival
Tottenham Hotspur missed a vital opportunity to distance themselves from West Ham United in the Premier League relegation battle. The team failed to capitalize on chances and made critical errors both on and off the ball during their home match against Leeds United on Monday evening.
After securing back-to-back victories under Roberto De Zerbi, Spurs entered the match looking to make it three wins in a row. Instead, they settled for a 1-1 draw with Leeds United. Had it not been for goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky’s outstanding save to deny Sean Longstaff in stoppage time, Spurs would have left the game empty-handed.
Following the tied score with Leeds, Tottenham now finds themselves just two points ahead of West Ham, who sit in the 18th position. Their last two fixtures of the 2025/26 season promise to be challenging, with Spurs set to face fierce rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge next Tuesday, followed by a home match against Everton on Sunday to conclude the Premier League campaign.
Former Leeds United Striker Questions Tottenham’s Survival Prospects
Although De Zerbi fell short of achieving a third consecutive win, he extended his unbeaten streak to four matches after initially losing his first game against Sunderland.
The point gained on Monday was crucial, but former Leeds striker Jermaine Beckford expressed doubts about Tottenham’s chances of securing victories against both Chelsea and Everton in their final two games. He mentioned that the North London club will also need to monitor West Ham’s upcoming matches against Newcastle United and Leeds.
“They’ve got two really tricky fixtures coming up,” Jermaine Beckford said on LUTV.
“Chelsea, listen, anything could happen against Chelsea. You don’t know which Chelsea side are going to turn up. It’s a London derby, so you know, form goes out of the window, and it’s just one side of London against another.
“And in the last game of the season, Everton, who have hit some really good form recently as well. Spurs will be worrying, especially looking at West Ham.
“West Ham have got Newcastle away, and then they have to play against us [Leeds] at their place. So, Spurs have to win both games. I can’t see them winning both games.”
