Tottenham Plans Contract Upgrade for Luka Vuskovic Amid Interest from Top Clubs

Tottenham Hotspur is set to offer Luka Vuskovic a significantly upgraded contract to counter interest from elite European clubs. Sporting director Johan Lange has traveled to Hamburg to engage in personal discussions with the 19-year-old regarding his long-term future at the club, as reported by The Sun.

Vuskovic, Tottenham’s second-most-valuable player, has emerged as a standout defender in the Bundesliga this season, scoring five goals in 26 appearances for Hamburg. His impressive performances have drawn admiration from some of Europe’s most formidable clubs. German legend Lothar Matthaus remarked on Vuskovic’s maturity, stating that he plays as if he had already featured in three World Cups.

The Croatian defender is set to represent his nation at the summer’s World Cup against England. Currently earning relatively modest wages after joining from Hajduk Split for £12 million in a deal finalized in 2023, Vuskovic’s new contract would bring his earnings in line with other first-team players, signaling Tottenham’s vision for his central role in the squad moving forward.

Vuskovic Faces Competition in Tottenham Lineup

The pathway to first-team opportunities will widen this summer, as either Cristian Romero or Micky van de Ven is expected to depart, with Radu Dragusin also on the market. This creates an opening that Vuskovic’s return from Hamburg is ideally suited to fill.

The potential starting lineup for Tottenham next season, if they secure Premier League survival, is shaping up to be exciting. SunSport’s projected XI includes James Trafford from Manchester City in goal, with Vicario likely heading to Inter Milan. Fullback options include Robertson and Porro, while Vuskovic and Senesi are slated to form a young, skilled central defensive partnership. Bergvall and Bentancur will anchor the midfield, with Kulusevski, Gallagher, and Kudus supporting Solanke in attack.

Adding both Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi on free transfer deals would enhance defensive quality without straining the budget, allowing for investment in other areas. Robertson’s Premier League experience and Senesi’s physicality and composure would transform Spurs’ backline from one that has frequently faltered throughout this challenging season.

However, the focus remains on securing survival first. Tottenham’s recent 2-1 victory at Villa Park has lifted them just above the relegation zone with three matches left to play. The promising lineup discussed above presents a vision worth striving for, and those currently on the team have solid reasons to turn it into reality.
