Declan Rice’s participation in the World Cup may be in jeopardy due to a possible injury. England’s head coach, Thomas Tuchel, expressed concerns about Rice’s health during a post-match press conference following England’s victory over Croatia in their tournament opener.
Tuchel indicated that Rice could have suffered an injury during the match, leading to his decision to substitute the player. He noted that keeping Rice on the pitch could have posed additional risks:
“I hope they’re all right, because normally I would never substitute Declan, but I didn’t want to take any risks,” Tuchel stated.
Rice was taken off the field in the 72nd minute after appearing to limp during the game. Further updates regarding his condition are expected to be released soon.
