Keinan Davis Accuses Alberto Dossena of Racial Abuse During Serie A Match

Udinese forward Keinan Davis has accused Cagliari defender Alberto Dossena of using racially charged language during their Serie A match on Saturday, where Udinese secured a 2-0 victory. Davis claims that Dossena referred to him as a “monkey,” a charge that Dossena has categorically denied.

As the match neared its conclusion, Davis, who is Black, confronted the referee regarding remarks he allegedly heard from the stands. Following the final whistle, tensions escalated, requiring teammates to intervene and separate both players.

Davis later took to Instagram, tagging Dossena in a post that read: “This racist coward called me a monkey today during the game. I hope the Serie A association will do something about this but we will see.”

In response, Dossena released a statement on his own Instagram account roughly an hour later. He expressed his sadness over the accusation, stating, “Being accused of racism saddens and hurts me. It is a very serious accusation; it would never cross my mind to address another person, a colleague with an insult of that kind.”

“I have never faced such a situation where I have to defend myself against a defamatory accusation. Such behavior is the furthest thing from my culture and education,” he added.

In light of the incident, Udinese issued a statement addressing the matter but did not specifically name Dossena.
