Striker Ademola Lookman is not included in Atalanta’s squad list for the opening of the Italian League or Serie A after being rumored to be of interest to Paris Saint-Germain.
Reported by AFP, Sunday, the 26-year-old player was not included in the squad announced on Sunday for Atalanta’s trip to face Lecce, where Gian Piero Gasperini’s team will start their league campaign on Monday night.
PSG are interested in Lookman’s performance who has been impressive throughout last season with Atalanta, especially with his brilliant performance in the Europa Cup final when he scored three goals against Bayer Leverkusen.
Italian media have widely reported that Lookman’s representatives have informed Atalanta of PSG’s interest as the club goes through an important summer transfer window.
Moreover, PSG is currently missing one figure of striker Goncalo Ramos who suffered a ligament injury during the opening of the French League and is certain to be out for three months.
Atalanta are currently in the midst of a squad restructuring after Serbian midfielder Lazar Samardzic arrived in Bergamo on Sunday to undergo a medical ahead of a €20 million move to Atalanta from Udinese. Lazar Samardzic is being lined up as a replacement for Teun Koopmainers, who is reportedly close to signing for Juventus.
Like Lookman, Koopmeiners was also left out of the 23-man squad for the match against Lecce, but Atalanta have not ruled out agreeing terms with the Old Lady who are rebuilding their squad for new coach Thiago Motta.
Atalanta also lost centre-forward Gianluca Scamacca to a serious knee injury earlier this month, leading to the signing of his Italy teammate Mateo Retegui from Genoa.
