Nottingham Forest Rise From The Ashes Like A Phoenix

Nottingham Forest has turned back time and the fans who saw the golden period of the club in the 80s and 90s have a feeling of a deja vu.

Nuno Espirito Santo has done a phenomenal job

Last season Nottingham Forest finished 17th in the Premier League and it looked like this season they would go down in the championship but Nuno Espirito Santo has done a phenomenal job with this team.

The team has to be given equal credits as they have played exceptionally well and are looking strong at every aspect of the game. Chris Wood has turned out to be a standout amongst the players as he bagged 18 goals this season and is looking to break the 20 goal mark.

    First Division title in 1978

Forest won the First Division title in 1978 with Liverpool coming second, while the final league positions were reversed a year later.

During the 80s, Forest finished third on three occasions and, in those seasons, Liverpool twice ended as champions as well as coming runners-up.

Under Brian Clough, Forest shocked the continent by lifting the European Cup in 1979 and retaining the crown a year later.

This rivalry has also resurfaced in this resurgence of Nottingham forest. They might not be able to overtake Liverpool as they have gone clear of them by 19 points and it is not likely that liverpool will bottle the league from this situation.

The pace and trickery of Callum Hudson-Odoi and Elanga on the wing, The lethalness of Chris Wood, the creativity of Gibbs-White, the work rate of Yates and Anderson, the physicality of Murillo and Milenkovic, the defending of Aina and Williams and the absolute brilliance of Matz Sels on the goal has made this team unstoppable in the league.

No big names, no big salary caps and no big egos, only a band of players who want to give it their all and a coach who is capable of big things.

traditional top six faltering this season

Forest have capitalised on members of the traditional top six faltering this season.

Champions Manchester City’s crisis has been well-documented, and they currently sit in fifth place, while Tottenham and Manchester United are nowhere to be seen, languishing in the bottom half of the table.

Aston Villa’s packed schedule is catching up with them – they are down in seventh place after finishing fourth last season.

“Our expectations are the same,” said Nuno. “We have to prepare for the next one.”

You could say that Nottingham Forest have been lucky but luck also comes to those who are willing to put in the work.
