Galatasaray is now targeting West Ham’s Soungoutou Magassa as their latest signing. After an initial loan offer was rejected by the Hammers, the Turkish club is intensifying its efforts. According to Turkish report Fotomac, Galatasaray’s first proposal for the 22-year-old defensive midfielder was turned down, despite it including an option to buy.
Galatasaray Pursues Soungoutou Magassa with New Proposal
Galatasaray’s Vice President Abdullah Kavukcu is committed to this acquisition and has traveled to the UK to discuss the matter directly with Premier League representatives, alongside Italian agent George Gardi.
Fotomac indicates that the Turkish team is now offering a loan deal that includes a mandatory purchase clause to facilitate the transfer. Additionally, Galatasaray is in talks with Göztepe about midfielder Anthony Dennis as an alternative option.
Performance Overview of Magassa for 2025/26 Season
West Ham United acquired Magassa from AS Monaco for €17 million in August 2025. However, he has faced challenges in adapting to English football. By January 31, 2026, he had logged only 808 minutes over 15 appearances, mostly remaining on the bench under manager Nuno Espírito Santo.
Although he netted a notable goal against Manchester United at Old Trafford in December, his overall performance has been inconsistent. Capable of playing as both a defensive midfielder and centre-back, he has been unable to replace regular starters like Tomas Soucek or the emerging Freddie Potts.
