On Sunday, two matches in the National Women’s Soccer League were decided by a single goal, highlighting efficiency in performance.

Chicago’s Winning Connection

The Chicago Stars secured a 2–1 victory over the Kansas City Current, not through constant dominance, but by taking advantage of key moments. Central to their success were Jordyn Huitema and Julia Grosso, whose teamwork has developed over years with the Canadian national team.

Huitema and Grosso have been teammates for Canada’s women’s national team, advancing from youth levels to the senior squad and competing in major events like the Tokyo Olympics. Their roles have become complementary, with Huitema acting as a forward who tests defenses and Grosso as a midfield playmaker, adept at handling pressure and connecting plays.

Even though Huitema joined Chicago from Seattle just ten days ago, their established chemistry was clear. Grosso initiated the counterattack that led to Huitema’s goal, demonstrating her ability to move the ball quickly through the midfield. Huitema capitalized on her chance with precise positioning and timing in the box.
