Bayern Munich has confirmed that they will not pursue Marcus Rashford as an option if Manchester United and Barcelona are unable to finalize a transfer agreement.

The future of the 28-year-old remains uncertain. Last summer, Rashford found himself in the ‘bomb squad,’ a group of five Manchester United players excluded from Ruben Amorim’s plans and required to train separately from the main squad.

Fortunately for Rashford, he secured a loan move to Barcelona, but it remains unclear whether he will continue at Camp Nou beyond the current season.

Bayern Munich rule themselves out of Marcus Rashford race

The England international joined Barcelona on loan in June with an option to buy for €30 million (£26 million).

While he hasn’t always been a regular starter, Rashford has made crucial contributions, particularly when stepping in for Raphinha or Lamine Yamal.

Rashford’s Stats in 25/26 Appearances Goals Assists
LaLiga 27 7 8
Champions League 11 5 4
Copa del Rey 4 1 1
Spanish Super Cup 2 0 0
Total 44 13 13

Despite his impressive performance, Barcelona is hesitant to pay the €30 million fee, seeking to negotiate a lower price instead.

Manchester United is reportedly willing to accommodate Rashford this summer now that Amorim has departed. However, he is unlikely to rejoin the squad, whether Michael Carrick remains in charge or a new manager is appointed. He will be allowed to train with his former teammates until he finds a new club.

According to German journalist Christian Falk, Rashford’s next destination is not Bayern Munich, as the Bundesliga champions have stated they are not interested, even as a potential replacement for Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon.

“It’s not true,” Falk wrote in his latest column for FC Bayern Insider.

“Bayern has a list of options – it’s not just Gordon. He is their preferred target. However, Rashford is not on this list.”

Will Man Utd & Barcelona reach a settlement on Rashford?

In recent weeks, Barcelona has been working to secure an agreement with Rashford and his team, allegedly asking him to accept a pay cut.

The LaLiga champions are also attempting to negotiate a discount with Manchester United or pursue a second loan option. However, Manchester United seems determined to collect the €30 million stipulated in the original agreement.

Despite the ongoing negotiations, many observers anticipate that Rashford’s time in Catalunya will be extended in one way or another. Both parties are eager to resolve the transfer, and Rashford has expressed a desire to wear the iconic Blaugrana shirt for years to come.
