Celtic Engages in Talks with Sabah for Aaron Malouda Transfer
A recent report from the French outlet L’Equipe indicates that Celtic have initiated discussions with Azerbaijani club Sabah regarding a potential summer transfer for Aaron Malouda. However, the Scottish side is not the only team interested, as Serie B club Sampdoria is also aiming to secure the French forward.
The 20-year-old player, capped by the French youth national team, developed his skills in the academies of Lyon and Rennes, ultimately playing for Rennes’ reserves in the French fifth division. Subsequently, he moved to Lille, but limited opportunities in the first team led to a loan spell at Nimes.
Aaron, the son of renowned France and Chelsea winger Florian Malouda, began his tenure in Azerbaijan with an initial season-long loan to Sabah. The Black-pinks were impressed by his performance on the wing, leading them to secure his services for a fee of about €250k earlier this year.
Malouda’s Rising Star in Azerbaijan
Like his father, Malouda prefers to play as a wide attacker. To date, he has scored 8 goals and provided 4 assists in 23 league appearances, playing a crucial role in Sabah’s historic first-ever Azerbaijan Premier League title, ending Qarabağ FK’s long-standing dominance. The team is also on the brink of cup success, as they prepare to face Zira in the Azerbaijan Cup final this midweek.
