Sir David Beckham Becomes the UK’s First Billionaire Sportsman

Sir David Beckham remains one of the most iconic figures in Manchester United history.

He won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups and the UEFA Champions League during a hugely successful spell under Sir Alex Ferguson.

The former England captain was also a crucial part of United’s historic Treble-winning side in 1999.

Beckham later went on to play for Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.

However, his success away from football has arguably become just as remarkable.

He is currently the co-owner and president of Inter Miami.

The MLS side recently saw manager Javier Mascherano depart because of personal issues.

Now, Beckham has officially reached another historic milestone.

According to The Sunday Times Rich List for 2026, Sir David Beckham has become the United Kingdom’s first billionaire sportsman.

The combined wealth of the United legend and his wife Victoria Beckham is reportedly estimated at £1.185bn.

Last year, their combined wealth was estimated at £500m, highlighting the significant rise in their fortune.

The new figure places Beckham among the wealthiest sporting figures in British history.

The 51-year-old remains involved in multiple major commercial partnerships and ambassadorial roles with companies including Adidas and Hugo Boss.

Meanwhile, Victoria Beckham has built a hugely successful fashion business after originally rising to worldwide fame as a member of the Spice Girls.

Last month, the ex-Manchester United midfielder was also ranked eighth in Sportico’s all-time highest-paid athletes list.

That underlines the enormous financial success he has achieved both during and after his football career.

His public profile has remained extremely high in recent months too.

For instance, David Beckham recently met with King Charles III.

Despite stepping away from professional football more than a year ago, Beckham continues to be one of the most recognisable and commercially successful figures in world sport.
